Minutes of the Meeting of Glentworth Parish Council

 

Date: Wednesday 3rd September 2025  

Venue: Glentworth Village Hall

Attendance: Councillors: J. Latham (Chairman), C. Montgomery, E. Rook, C. Hebborn.  Also attending: G. Monks (Clerk), County Councillor Reeve and Paul Howitt-Cowan (District Councillor) and two members of the public.

 

Public Session

Owners of 8 Church Street outlined their plans for the house.

03/09/1 Appoint a Chairperson

Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to appoint Councillor Latham as Chairperson for this meeting. 

03/09/2 Apologies for absence

Councillors W.Annibal (Vice Chairman), S. Pickering-Paterson and L. Garbutt

03/09/3 Declarations of interest and dispensations from members in accordance with the Local Government

1. To record declarations of interest by any member of the council in respect of the agenda items.  None declared

2. To note dispensations given to any member of the council in respect of the agenda items.          None declared

03/09/4 Minutes of the Extraordinary Meeting of Glentworth Parish Council held on Wednesday 16th July 2025

Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to approve the Minutes taken on 16th July 2025.

03/09/5 Chairman and Vice Chairmans report

The Chairman had nothing to report.

The Vice Chairman sent apologies.

03/09/6 Representative Reports

District Council: The District Councillor reported that there are consultations on parking, grants are available for application, devolution continues, more will be clear about Scampton base in December and the next full council meeting is on 8th September.

County Council: Councillor Reeve reported that that it is road dressing season and that he is pursuing the issue with the Elizabeth Close road surface.

Police: The Clerk noted that there were no incidents in June.

03/09/7 Clerks report

The report by the Clerk was noted.  It was confirmed that defibrillator training will be held on 17th September. 

03/09/8 Planning Matters to be Reported and Considered

WL/2025/00834, 8 Church Street Glentworth Gainsborough Dn21 5dg, proposed single storey rear extension, and rear and front dormers to create additional accommodation in the roof. Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to support the application.

03/09/9 Accounts

Councillors RESOLVED to approve the financial report and approve electronic payments e799-e802.  The Chairman signed the bank statements to confirm the balance of £8,751.55 in the Natwest current account at 30/08/25 and £24,638.24 in the Liquidity Manager 35 days savings account.

Budgetary item 2026/27:  The Clerk reminded Councillors to let him know of any costs that may need budgeting for.                                                               

03/09/10 To receive reports for discussion

Play Area and Pocket Park risk assessment report by the Clerk:  The Clerk provided a report noting that the play equipment was operationally safe and the defibrillators are emergency ready.

Trees between Village Hall and St George’s Hill: The Clerk will arrange for a tree survey.

Village Hall memorandum of understanding: This will be an agenda item at the next meeting.

Salary rates: The Clerk notified Councillors that the latest salary rates have been published.  Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to adopt the new rates and agreed to backpay between April 25 and August 25.

Remembrance wreaths: Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to purchase a wreath from Royal British Legion (s.137 free resource)

Christmas tree: Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to make arrangements to purchase a tree and to ask for Mr. Chambers to help putting it up.

Village Venture: Councillors agreed to continue to publish in both Village Venture and Trent Gazette and this will be reviewed annually.

Tillbridge solar: An update is awaited.

St George’s Hill land: Councillors RESOLVED unanimously to ask the Clerk to contact the enforcement officer and environmental health about this.

03/09/11 Correspondence for Information

Correspondence was noted.

03/09/12 Minor items/ Agenda items for the next meeting

The Chair of the next meeting will be Councillor Pickering Patterson.

03/09/13 Date of Next Meeting

The next Parish Council Meeting will be on Wednesday 15th October 2025.
